March 15th Anti-War March in Hollywood, CA
By: Drew Piper MTR News
On March 15th, 2008 in Hollywood, Ca. AnswerLA along with 150 other organizations gathered to mark the 5th anniversary of the illegal and immoral occupation of Iraq as well as the occupations of other nations around the world.
Upwards of 10,000 patriotic citizens gathered for the event. The corporate media not only failed to report the event accurately but intentionally and drastically under reported the numbers of activists in attendance. This reporter observed several cameramen from local corporate infotainment stations before the march, filming the crowds. As soon as the march commenced, they were nowhere to be found as if they vanished into thin air. Many others documented as thousands of activists marched up Hollywood boulevard and down Sunset to the CNN building.
At the CNN building where the march ended and speeches began, the peaceful group yelled "CNN, can't you see? Put the peace march on TV!" CNN the self proclaimed “most trusted name in news”, wouldn’t even acknowledge what was happening outside their own building. This of course is not a new tactic by CNN or the corporate media.
As the attached video will attest, the numbers were grossly under reported by the few corporate owned networks that covered the event. We have to ask ourselves, why do the corporate media make these actions by citizens seem so insignificant to American life? Why are people still listening to the corporate media?
